This is the way the world is heading – and us along with it. It is a general trend that is determined by the universal laws and is indicated by the numbers on the calendar. The character of this trend changes every twelve months and with the arrival of each new year, there is a different vibration to respond to.

September, of each year, (since it represents the 9th month to “finish” the influence that has prevailed since January 1st and to forecast the one of the year coming in.) is “on the cusp” – not quite through with the old, not yet assuming the new, but giving us a combination of both. From then on, until the 31 st December, the old vibration grows weaker and the new one stronger, until the old year is finally seen “out” and the new one ushered in on its feet.

In a 1 year, the world hungers for adventure and excitement and it won't be let down either. Thrilling new events occur and electrifying new achievements are witnessed. Where it is particularly noticeable is in the areas of bionics and aviation. In 1927 there was the first successful pioneer flight across the Atlantic. Chamberlain, Byrd and Lindbergh all made their flights in the same year. Each responded to the quality of the number 1. Exciting things happen; discoveries are made. New inventions are patented; innovative designs created. Thus a new standard is set; a former dream accomplished; a new era has begun. The essence of the year is creative and rewards the pioneering spirit and feats of daring. Not only do governments announce the launch of new creative projects, but they also implement progressive plans to go with it. Record gold and sunflower prices are listed on the exchange and so-called “dormant” volcanoes erupt .

In a 2 year, the world seeks peace and harmony. It wants to erase conflict between nations e.g. in 1928, the Briand-Kellog Treaty was signed by representatives of fifteen nations. Tact, diplomacy and receptivity - all attributes of a 2 year - accomplished what would have been an impossible task for the spirit of adventure. Knowledge, understanding and peace were gained by this important act. Even so, it is a year for compassion and to exercise patience in all dealings as so much can be achieved if these qualities are employed in a 2 year. People fill in government census forms so that services for the wider community can be determined for future reference. Not only are important legislation regarding women issues and maritime or water projects introduced and passed into law, but scandals involving politics and politicians occur as well. Meditation and yoga centres prove very popular in a 2 year.

General Trend: Exhibits a desire for luxury, a need to celebrate life and to socialise. Expansion in entertainment, theatre and film. Miracles occur. Encourages expression and promotes the cause of the whales and sport.

In a 3 year, the world seeks to express. So socializing becomes uppermost in the minds of people. They want to laugh and play e.g. 1929 was an incredible year for sport, luxury, and concerts – all qualities indicated by the number 3. Huge amounts of money are spent on grand pianos and luxury cars or items, the latter mainly because of a need to impress – people become image conscious in a 3 year. This is also a time for celebration. Australia was a good example of this when it celebrated its bicentennial all year long in 2001. If you like investing, here's a tip. Theatre attendances increase; amusement parks do a roaring trade and films experience a surge in ticket sales. General Trend: Need to be industrious and constructive . Demand for hard work, discipline and patience. Urge to be thrifty, to create financial security and to economize. Progress in manufacturing, education and electrical engineering is made.

In a 4 year the world gets back to basics. It starts with a general shake-up so that affairs assume there natural level. Happen, it does slowly but surely. Sometimes however, things do crash e.g. 1930 saw men and women getting down to work of a grinding type. Wages were not high because there was not much money available to pay them. Jobs were not easy to find since bosses were doing much of the work themselves. This brought a welcome return to handcrafts - all traits of the number 4. Progress is also made in education and manufacturing while funds are set aside for the plight of the farmer and conservation. Natural disasters dot the 4 year. Earthquakes, tornados or hurricanes are both commonplace and destructive. While it's a year for rebellion and anarchy, miracles do happen. In 1876, the first telephone patent was taken out by Alexander Graham Bell – another trait of a 4 year.

The second the “scare” of last year subsides in a 5 year, the world lifts its nosefrom the grindstone and seeks to expand its own interests and enterprises. Renewed vigour will flow in business and physical veins. The world is ready to “take a chance” once again. It craves adventure and excitement. The desire for rejuvenation becomes its primary motivation. Metaphysics and psychology flourish and since this year brings so much change, clairvoyants, psychologists and astrologers experience a surge in popularity. In a 5 year, there is a high rate of crime, particularly white collar crime and sex scandals - since sex sells, newspapers hit pay dirt. Circulation trebles. Embargoes on wheat are introduced, thus adding to the farmers' woes. Tennis gains in popularity and as a result, more sponsorship deals for the players. Publishing companies experience record book sales because a 5-Year encourages people to read and the publishing of new works.

General Trend: The Urge is to settle down, for peace and harmony. Movement to improve health and educational conditions. Increased sales in jewellery and clothes. It promotes the cause of the dolphins and deer .

In a 6 year, the world wants to settle down so much so that marriage bureaus are swamped with applications for licences. Love is in the air and people are keen to tie the knot. Harmony becomes of paramount importance in a 6 year and adjustments may need to be made. Sometimes this comes through war, sometimes through peace but always with the view of restoring its natural level e.g. in 1905 Japan and Russia agreed to President Roosevelt's request to discuss peace terms. The agreement was later ratified – all in a day's work in a 6 year. Locally, “village improvement” becomes an issue. So committees are formed to redecorate and replenished homes and parks. However, where the community benefits most is in the area of education and health. Since people look for entertainment in a 6 year, sales of concert tickets, jewelry and clothes soar. Wine, opera and sapphires also prove extremely popular.

General Trend: A hunger for perfection, quality not quantity. Need to be alone, analyse existing affairs. An urge to meditate, yearning for solace, need silence. Waterways repaired.

In a 7 year the world hungers for perfection. It demands quality, not quantity. So existing affairs must be analyzed and examined. Though it is a fertile time for the growth of theories, it takes a lot of thinking to keep them healthy. Outstanding events are not usual in a 7 year. The influence is usually static and its impact internal. Irritation normally expresses itself in disputes within nations rather than between them. Many local battles, including massacres of whole villages, have occurred in 7 years; as well as religious disputes and persecutions in the name of theology and dogma. It's a great year financially if there's a willingness to work. The only exception to this is when the previous year spelt war. Much attention is focused on water with waterways repaired and dams strengthened. Many turn to meditation or turn inward for solace. Record tea and oil prices occur as does bribery and corruption in a 7 year.

General Trend: A Yen for expansion and progress. Prosperity in big business. Mining and engineering projects boom. Foreign trade prospers.

In an 8 year the wheels of industry turn over once again and productivity increases. It is a year for power plays and big business. Just as well too, thinking is done on grand scale while business expands and multiplies. Output and input assume large proportions and large sums of money passes hands. Commerce extends it boundaries and foreign trade sets some records. Engineers frequently startle the world with what they can do in an 8 year. Still it is a great year for progress and prosperity. In 1763, the first balloon ascension was made with heated air – a historic and progressive event. Shares in agriculture and coal mining hit an all time high as does investing money in franchises and licensees. Money is definitely made and lost - so take care. Terrorism rises to fever pitch; casualties and acts of terrorism are commonplace. So are natural disasters - the world needs to be on guard.

General Trend: Reward for selfless service. Promotes tolerance and understanding, forgive and forget. End of a cycle, out with the old make way for the new. It promotes the cause of wolves and tigers.

In a 9 year, the world wants to be friends. So selfishness and greed does not flourish and if indulged, instant karma is going get you. The world now yearns for love, tolerance and understanding and since this is an end of a cycle, there is no place for hatred and bitterness. Unsatisfactory relationships must end and a general clean-put given to all aspects of life. It's simply a case of “out with the old and in with the new" e.g. in 1917, the United States severed diplomatic relations with Germany and entered the World War the same year – typical of a 9 year. Funds are also set aside for essential services such as the police, fire fighters and ambulance. Most probably, this is because the number 9 indicates fire and violence. Not surprisingly, sales of wrestling tickets soar and marital arts make a comeback. Still people turn more to religion and philosophy in their search for answers than any other year. They want the world to be a happier and healthier place.
